about
I composed "What's left" during the lockdown, as a charity project.
The Album was available just the first of May, 2020. That's because that day Bandcap was going to waive their revenue share.
All the proceeds went to Emergency.
Now, September 16, I'm so happy to release the album, again, and not just for one day, via Pitchthenoiserecords.
…Considering that there was no chance to play music with friends and colleagues in these quarantine, I thought about an alternative way.
I checked my hard disk, looking for old and new recordings, audio tracks and fragments. Once I chose them, I processed the material, following these rules:
one audio source per track, just digitakt for processing, two pedals and one tascam
Each track is made by one and only one (different) audio source.
(Except track n.1 and n. 9, they intentionally share the same audio source and the same sample)
Every audio source was imported and manipulated into Digitakt and then into Tascam.
No overdub.
The whole album was recorded on tape, that's because I wanted the album have the typical lo-fi feeling that just tape can give me.
There's something mysterious and nostalgic in this kind of process, and I hope you like it, I hope you feel it.
Without Teo, Chiara, my family, Giovanni, Anna, Luca, Antonia, Giacomo, Fabrizio and all the "Pitch The Noise Records" crew, this album wouldn't exist.
Best
D.
